Please tell us about yourself. When and what made you get into direction?

Since childhood, my one and only dream was to become a director. I have seen most of the Bangladeshi films made till date. And films in many others languages, such as, English, French, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Panjabi, Marathi, Kannada, Oriya, Hindi and many more. I have seen more than 5,000 films. That inspired me to become a director.

What’s the hardest part of direction?

I would say direction is really a tough job. A director has to manage all the things in a proper way. For that, the director not only has to be a hard worker, but also he has to be much smarter and creative thinker. A director has to coordinate different departments of people like artistes, cinematographers, technical persons and many other people to get high quality of work. And obviously, there is pressure about budget, and within very limited budgets, the director has to implement the best work. Also, managing actors and time is a big factor.

Is learning to direct in an institution necessary?

I think an institution can made a good student, but the (practical) field or platform of direction can make a good worker or performer. So I would say, theoretical learning is very much necessary, but practical experience is a must to be a good director.

What do you think of the present state of drama or film-making in our country?

The present situation is pretty good, I must say, both in drama and film. But I think to make a good production, the present situation of the entertainment industry is not that good because of budget constraints. I think this is a big challenge for us, within a very low budget, we have to make a good production. Though there are many talented directors _ we have many interesting ideas _ but only for limited budget, we can’t make those dramas or films.

Tell us about your most remarkable works.

I started my career as an assistant director. There are different popular dramas, TV serials, where I was assistant director. And then in 2012, I made a single episode drama, ‘Ekfuley Dui Vhomore’. After that in 2013, I made another single episode drama named ‘Asrujol’ and started a drama serial, ‘Shomporko’.

Tell us about your current project and next project.

The drama serial ‘Shomporko’ is my current project. My next plan is to make a full-length film. I am preparing myself for it. I believe a story is a big thing for a film or a production. So, focusing on the story, I want to make something different and interesting, which can leave a mark in the film industry. And directing is my dream. I want to do that till my death.
